Equipment swap likely 787 vs 777?

Does anyone know why on earth JAL would choose to use a 787-9 on the HND-BKK 1:30AM REDEYE route? The 10:55AM route has Apex suites. What gives? You would think Apex would be the product on the 1:30AM route. Anyone know if equipment...
