Shawn Bates hired as Pingree head coach Former Merrimack forward Shawn Bates has been named the new head coach of the Pingree School, a prep school in South Hamilton, Mass. Bates, 34, graduated from Merrimack in 2014. He’s been an assistant at Pingree since 2022, and he takes over for Dan Gordon, who stepped down after five seasons earlier this spring.
