Our Lottery - The 1804 Campaign NYCDA is a not-for-profit organisation committed to helping its partners to raise as much funding as possible through its NYCDA Weekly Draw.
Melanoma UK supporters can raise much needed funds for the charity by participating in the NYCDA Weekly Draw - 'The 1804 Campaign' (Why 1804? This was the year in which Rene Laennec, a French physician, distinguished Melanoma as a disease separate from others). All proceeds from the partnership will help increase prevention through education and awareness, raise funds for vital research and help those involved in the continued fight against Melanoma.

Charity Football match I'm organizing this Fundraiser for a Lovable and special person of my mate's best friends wife, Kirsty sadly lost her life to Melanoma, To bring awareness to many of thousands across the whole world, We will be holding a charity football match which takes place on the 24th of May at Tiverton Town Football Club. Donations are kindly appreciated towards the Family and friends of Kirsty , and of course to Melanoma.

MELANOMA - IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR My story starts in 1989 and the tragic and avoidable early death of a much loved uncle at the age of 39.
My dad’s brother, Pete, had ignored the growing mole on his abdomen and ignored the frequent, ‘nagging’ requests from his wife to go and get checked out. Despite much surgery, skin grafts and chemo the cancer had spread. He died at home and our family was shaken to the ground.
None of us have ever really got over it - does anyone ever? But we have learnt and we have fought back at what is now clearly a familial genetic predisposition to melanoma. Soon after this my dad instilled in me and my brother the importance of checking for moles. From a young age, I had two fairly prominent moles - one on my abdomen and one on my back. We looked, checked, applied sunscreen and covered up. These two moles have never changed size, shape or colour. 'Greatful for the second chance' Katie shares her story of her husband's Melanoma journey
It was back in the midst of COVID, March 2021, when I received the words that changed everything, "your partner has a brain tumour.”
In the weeks, even months before, my now-husband had been complaining of headaches, especially on waking. He’d wince when bending down to change our six-month-old’s nappy on the floor — something we’d always done. I have to admit part of me thought it was excuses. But slowly, his symptoms worsened, and real worry set in.
One ordinary Wednesday morning, I left the house to take our baby to a class. Midway there, I got a call. “Can you come home?” he asked. I walked in to find him in bed, curtains drawn, barely making sense. His head was pounding. I called his sister, a GP, then very swiftly 999. The ambulance came quickly and he was assessed very cleverly via iPad by Queen Square, before being blue-lighted to hospital.
