Ideal treatment should provide removal of the entire gland with no complications during ambulatory procedures. Despite tremendous technological advances, this goal has not been met yet. Historically, open prostatectomy and TURP have been figured as „gold standard“ treatments for prostates over and under 80 grams, respectively. During the last thirty years, technological improvements have enabled a wide spectrum of mostly minimally invasive surgical modalities.
