Strong hailstorm strikes China’s Xi’an causing airport roof leaks, hundreds of cars destroyed On the evening of May 8, Xi’an, the capital city of China’s Shaanxi Province, was struck by a powerful and sudden bout of extreme weather. At around 7:30 PM, strong convective storms swept through the city, bringing intense lightning, gale-force winds, heavy rainfall, and a devastating hailstorm.
