French Marine pistol
Manufactured in France, marked “Anareuil”, converted from a flintlock to a percussion lock possibly in the 1820′s.
17,1mm/67″ caliber, brass barrel and fittings for increased durability in the sea air.
A lot of old flintlock firearms were converted to the new percussion lock invented in the 1810′s, especially before the introduction of rifled muskets as a military standard. It was a relatively easy transformation, done if not for their country of origin at least to sale to a smaller country at a discount to empty arsenals.
