Editorial Comment on “Uncertainty During Ureteroscopy: Evaluating Surgeon Consensus on In Vivo Stone Dust After Laser Lithotripsy” In this study, Bowers et al. present a retrospective cohort study with analysis of ureteroscopic videos and compared the abilities of faculty and trainees to predict adequacy of dusting (i.e. dust size) and then correlated this with stone free status on post operative CT scan.1 There is uncertainty regarding what constitutes “adequate dusting” in vivo and hence this study is well-timed. Furthermore, the present study presents novel analysis in linking these intraoperative characterizations of stone “dust” to subsequent clinical outcomes with cross sectional imaging.
