HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, beginning at 70 a.m. on Monday, October 27 to 50 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, contractor crews will be closing Route V in Adair County for sidewalk (ADA) improvement work. During this time, pavement replacement work will occur between Pine Street and Olive Street in Gibbs. Motorists will need to use alternative routes to reach their destinations.
Throughout the project, motorists can expect the following traffic impacts at various locations:

Temporary closures of pedestrian facilities
Intermittent lane closures with a 10-foot width restriction at the location where crews are actively working
Short-term temporary road closures as necessary

Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control to guide traffic through the work zone. Workers will be present during daylight hours. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
This work is being completed as part of MoDOT’s initiative for compliance with the current standards of the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA). We ask that motorists please be attentive in work zones for their safety and the safety of highway workers. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur.
The $448,567 contract was awarded this year to Stanton Contracting, LLC of Kirksville, Missouri. This project is scheduled to be completed by December 1, 2025.
This contract also includes additional sidewalk improvements at the following locations in Schuyler County that were completed earlier this summer:

Missouri Route 202/Route AA - from Fourth Street to Sixth Street in Glenwood
Route K - From Fifth Street to U.S. Route 63 in Greentop
Route M - from Park Street to Third Street in Glenwood
Route M - from Locust Street to Hickory Street in Glenwood
Route W - From Second Street to U.S. Route 63 in Queen City

For more information on this and other projects in your area, please contact MoDOT’s Customer Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MODOT (275-6636). Work with us in the work zone! Please remember to obey all work zone signs and personnel. With an increased number of highway work zones in Missouri, we urge all drivers to pay attention every second, especially through a work zone. Be informed of your route by checking the MoDOT Traveler Information Map before you travel.
