Curb Appeal Front Door Refresh Something I never thought I’d do was share the front of my house on the internet! Well here you go, if any of you were ever wondering, not very pretty I know but you make the most of what you have and mines a 1980’s eyesore surrounded by other houses that all have pvc windows, doors and facia boards and not a plant in sight in their gardens if they haven’t already been paved over.  I do however love my front door, but its been in a while now and needs a little tlc, it gets the brunt of all the weather so needs a new lick of paint.  In the warmer months our house is surrounded by a lavender hedge, wisteria growing up one side of the house and a rose on the other.  I have a wild flower bed that is full of spring bulbs at the moment and a beautiful gnarly laburnum.  So think mini cottage garden with a 80’s house in the middle. So I’ve been on a mission ordering paint samples and more paint samples from Little Greene.  I’m usually really fast and precise when choosing colour and 9 times out of 10 it works perfectly but I’ve found the door colour harder than I thought I would.  I don’t want it to stand out too much so bright colours are out, I also don’t want to paint it the same colour.  I thought maybe an olive green but it gets quite bright on the front of the house and it looked the same colour as the grass.  I also painted a sample of a sludgy grey colour but that seems too light and a bit boring.   So I’ve sent off for more samples and I’m hoping that invisible green is going to be the one. I’m only painting the outside face so I want a clean line from the inside to the out, less painting and mess but will hopefully work and contrast well. I’m also a little nervous as I’ve never painted an outside door before but I’m sure I won’t mess it up too much, if I can repaint my entire kitchen cupboards a front and back door shouldn’t beat me. I’ve found inspiration on Pinterest, of course I have a door/hall/stairway board.  Here are some that caught my eye and gave me food for thought.   Images 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13
