This Inner-City Family Apartment Is Reimagining The Australian Dream Nightingale Housing was co-founded by architect Jeremy McLeod to create more socially, financially and environmentally sustainable homes built for people, not profit.
Bonnie Herring was one of the architects of the initial buildings, and in an endorsement of the project, she purchased one of their early apartments with her partner, James Senior (who later became Nightingale Housing’s partnerships manager!).
Now parents to Penelope (5), Bonnie and James’ home ‘stretches’ and relaxes to suit family life, often overlapping with their neighbours on the building’s communal rooftop, or on the open-air stairs.
We visited their Brunswick home to learn more about their inner-city, car-free apartment life.
