New Trailer for Hospital Nurse Thriller 'Late Shift' with Leonie Benesch "Will the doctor come today?" Vertigo Releasing has debuted an official trailer for the Swiss film titled Late Shift, opening in theaters later this year. One of the best films I've seen this year - made by acclaimed Swiss filmmaker Petra Volpe. The original German title is Heldin, which actually translates to Heroine (a female hero), but they're not using this title for its international release. Late Shift originally premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year (here's my full review). German actress Leonie Benesch (seen in The Teacher's Lounge and September 5) stars as Floria, a dedicated nurse, tirelessly working in an understaffed surgical hospital ward. On this day her shift becomes a tense and urgent race against the clock. According to the WHO, the worldwide shortage of nursing staff is a global health risk. The film is both a respectful tribute to all care workers and a gripping plea for more humanity & social commitment. Last but not least, it shows how essential good care in the event of illness is for us all. Lead actress Leonie Benesch impresses with her powerful and captivating performance, which will leave everyone in awe of her emotion. Highly recommend […]

Irish Doppelganger Folk Horror 'The Twin' Trailer with Logan Donovan "The sight of your Fetch is an omen for coming death." Vertical has debuted the official trailer for an Irish folklore horror thriller film titled The Twin, which comes across more like a doppelganger psychological thriller than just horror. This first premiered at the 2024 Austin Film Festival and won the Audience Award from Dark Matters. "After such a long journey, I'm incredibly proud to finally share The Twin with horror audiences everywhere. It's a story about the things we try to bury that somehow find a way to dig themselves out." Following the death of his only son, a grieving father is haunted by a terrifying demon known in Irish folklore as the Fetch. He begins experiencing terrifying visions of a shadowy figure that looks like himself. Featuring a "haunted and physically impressive performance" from Logan Donovan as Nicholas (and also playing his shadowy figure). Also starring Robert Longstreet, Aleksa Palladino, Shannon Cochran, Tucker Grumbles, & Tripp Toupal. Looks creepy but still just another cliche story about grief as horror. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for J.C. Doler's horror film The Twin, direct from Vertical's YouTube: After the tragic loss of his son, Nicholas (Logan Donovan) struggles with […]

Disney Announces Live-Action 'Lilo & Stitch 2' is Now in Development "Should’ve known he couldn’t keep a secret..." Happy 626 Day, Lilo & Stitch fans! (Aka "National Stitch Day"!) Disney has officially announced that a sequel to the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie is currently in development now - no release date set yet. The live-action version of the animated classic open in theaters worldwide in May 2025 earlier this summer. It was a huge hit (currently earned $914 million worldwide) and fans love it, so they're already happy to start making another one. The original Lilo & Stitch animated movie opened in 2002 and they actually did make a direct-to-home-video sequel for it back in 2005 titled Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch. Though I expect this live-action sequel to go in a different direction. 2025 Lilo & Stitch director Dean Fleischer Camp is expected to return with the cast: Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis. This is just an announcement in celebration of "626 Day", confirming the sequel is in the works. But no other details are available just yet - stay tuned. Who's excited? Here's the announcement video for […]

Official Trailer for Irish Film 'Christy' About Two Estranged Brothers "Just can't let the past get you down." WildCard Distribution has unveiled the official Irish trailer for an indie film titled Christy, marking the feature directorial debut of Irish filmmaker Brendan Canty – who looks to be a very talented filmmaker. This originally premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and it next plays at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and Galway Film Fleadh. Two estranged brothers with checkered childhoods in the care system suddenly find themselves living under the same roof in Cork. They must now reconcile with their pasts and make decisions about the future. "Bursting with humour, soul, and raw authenticity," the film stars breakout talents Danny Power and Diarmuid Noyes, alongside a brilliant Irish ensemble including Emma Willis, Alison Oliver, Chris Walley, and Helen Behan. The film also features members of Cork's Kabin Studio, the arts collective behind the song "The Spark" heard in this trailer. Described as "a heartwarming story of second chances, connection, and finding your place in the world." Opening in Ireland first in August, and hopefully in the US not longer after. Keep an eye out for this. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Brendan Canty's […]
