Long Term Renal Preservation and Complication Profile with Ileal Ureter Creation To examine long-term ileal ureter replacement results at over 32 years at our institution. Long segment or proximal ureteral strictures pose a challenging reconstructive problem. Ureteroureterostomy, psoas hitch, boari flap, buccal ureteroplasty and autotransplantation are common reconstructive techniques. We show that ileal ureter remains a lasting option.

Editorial Comment on “Analyzing the Current State and Visibility of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives at Urology Residency Programs” When medical students are considering residency programs for application, they must weigh a number of factors including prestige, location, opportunities for research and support towards their future career. Perhaps an underestimated factor has been students’ interest in a department’s diversity in demographics and their associated DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) programming. Given the importance of mentorship in a student’s interest in urology, students will seek a program where they feel mentored; for URiM (underrepresented in medicine) and female applicants, race and gender concordance in mentorship are even more highly valued.

Editorial comment on “The Impact of Standard vs Early Apical Release HoLEP Technique on Postoperative Incontinence and Quality of Life” Surgery provides the ultimate treatment for patients with BPH complications. Ideal treatment should provide removal of the entire gland with no complications during ambulatory procedures. Despite tremendous technological advances, this goal has not been met yet. Historically, open prostatectomy and TURP have been figured as „gold standard“ treatments for prostates over and under 80 grams, respectively. During the last thirty years, technological improvements have enabled a wide spectrum of mostly minimally invasive surgical modalities.
