WTO to open its doors to the public on 9 June On 9 June 2024, the WTO will welcome the public to its headquarters in Geneva as part of its activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the WTO. The Open Day offers an opportunity for visitors to learn about the work of the WTO, explore its historic building and take part in various activities on the lakeside terrace and inside the WTO’s HQ.

Cambodia formally accepts Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies Cambodia deposited its instrument of acceptance of the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies on 6 May. Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul presented Cambodia’s instrument of acceptance to Deputy Director-General Angela Ellard.

WTO and ADB strengthen collaboration for sustainable economic growth The WTO Secretariat and the Asian Development Bank (AD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 1 May aimed at bolstering collaborative efforts to drive inclusive and sustainable development through trade and economic integration, including in Asia and the Pacific region. The MoU was signed ahead of ADB’s Annual Meeting to be held on 2-5 May.

Aid for Trade Global Review to discuss trade mainstreaming, food security, connectivity Registration is now open for the 2024 Aid for Trade Global Review, to be held from 26 to 28 June at the WTO’s headquarters in Geneva. The event — titled “Mainstreaming Trade” — will provide an opportunity for participants to take stock of 18 years of the Aid for Trade initiative, which has generated USD 687 billion to help developing economies — including least-developed countries (LDCs) — play a bigger part in global trade.

Items proposed for consideration at the next meeting of Dispute Settlement Body The WTO Secretariat has circulated a meeting notice and list of items proposed for the next meeting, on 26 April 2024, of the Dispute Settlement Body, which consists of all WTO members and oversees legal disputes among them. The meeting notice is circulated in the form of a document officially called an “airgram”.
