Food Review: L’antica Pizzeria Da Michele Singapore | Neapolitan-Style Pizza From Italy Opens First Southeast Asia Outpost The Place Located on level one of the new Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre, L’antica Pizzeria Da Michele Singapore, a longstanding pizza brand from Italy with over 150 years of history, just opened its first Southeast Asia outpost this month along the buzzing Club Street.  Founded in 1870 by Michele Condurro, L’antica Pizzeria Da Michele has been synonymous with Neapolitan pizza excellence. It is one of Naples’ oldest pizzeria and is the first pizzeria in Singapore to offer handcrafted pizza a ruota di carro which translates to wagon wheel pizza – a unique, classic Neapolitan-style pizza characterised by its extra thin and wide dough with a diameter larger than the plate beneath it.  The interior of the restaurant is contemporary chic and exudes a cosy vibe with mainly wooden brown furniture. It features a semi-open kitchen where you can get a glimpse of the specially imported oven from Italy.  The Food The menu is designed into starters, pizzas, pastas and desserts, with more than a dozen pizza flavours to choose from, including the brand’s classic options.   For a start, I had the Burrata alla Puttanesca (S$26), where the Burrata is from Puglia and is paired with a mix of Leccino olives, [...]

Food Review: Artist Bakery, Seoul | Popular Salt Butter Bread Bakery Cafe By Team Behind London Bagel Museum The Place Seoul is a café paradise and the latest craze to sweep the city of cafes is Artist Bakery by the same team behind the hugely popular London Bagel Museum. Located in Anguk near the subway station, Artist Bakery opened last December and specialises in salt butter bread (sogeumbbang), and it is quite hard to miss it given the huge crowd of people waiting in line daily. I visited the bakery café in the afternoon and do expect to wait any time between 30 minutes to 2 hours! The good thing about the queue system is that you can scan a QR code to input your details with your Apple ID (in the event you do not have a local Korean mobile number) and simply check back on your queue status. My virtual queue took two hours to clear, and I just took the time to explore Insadong.  The space of Artist Bakery is split into indoor and outdoor seats. How it works is that you can choose to dine-in, or takeaway. Takeaways queues are typically shorter, where you can grab an outdoor table for takeaways. Indoor seats are only for dine-in diners, where the queue is typically longer. The indoor space [...]
