Food Review: Torio Japanese Restaurant At Tiong Bahru | Under The Radar Japanese Omakase Dining At Havelock MRT Station The Place Located in Tiong Bahru, Torio Japanese Restaurant is a rather under the radar Japanese restaurant located within close proximity of Havelock MRT Station which has been opened for about two years. The interior of the restaurant comprises mainly counter seating as well as regular tables with a simple, no-frills design.     The Food Omakase prices start from S$98++ and I had the Chef’s Omakase Menu (S$238) for dinner which includes 3 Kinds of Seasonal Appetiser, 5 Kinds of Seasonal Sashimi, 2 Kinds of Hot Seafood, 3 Pieces of Premium Sushi, Signature Don (Beef or Fish), Soup and Dessert.  Here’s what to expect, and do note that the dishes served might differ based on seasonality of ingredients:  For a start, I had a series of Appetisers such as Ice Plant Salad from Japan, Sea Bream Roe and Shirako, Oyster from Miyagi with citrus sauce and Octopus Roe with Dashi sauce. It was my first time having octopus roe and it was surprisingly delicious.     Next up was a series of Seasonal Sashimi – Dry Aged Kanpachi, Shima Aji, Kinmedai, Aged Kanpachi, Mikan Tai (Sea Bream), Smoked Bonito, Ika (Squid).  I then had this indulgent Toro With Bafun Uni and Ikura, so good! Next up was a Mini [...]

Food Review: London Bagel Museum, Seoul | Popular Bagel Bakery Cafe With More Than A Dozen Flavours The Place One of the most popular bakery cafes in Seoul, London Bagel Museum is every bagel lover’s paradise. The brand only opened in 2021 and I managed to check it out during my Seoul trip this month, in addition to its newest sister concept Artist Bakery which specialises in salt butter bread. There are four outlets across South Korea, with three in Seoul at Anguk, Dosan, Jamsil, as well as one in Jeju. I visited the Dosan outlet in the Gangnam district and as expected, there was still a long queue even though it was late afternoon.  It was my first time back to Seoul after more than two decades, and one of the most convenient and cost-effective ways I found to get from Incheon International Airport to the Seoul is via the limousine bus service which I booked on Klook. The good thing about the queue system is that you can scan a QR code to input your details with your Apple ID (in the event you do not have a local Korean mobile number) and simply check back on your queue status. My virtual queue took about an hour to clear, and I just took the time to explore the nearby shops and [...]
